Poke'm
Location : Robson & Hornby Street
Hours: 11.30 - 6.30pm every day
So, another day, another food cart. Only one today as I had an interview and couldn't meet Neil for lunch. The cart was a bit of a mystery. It isn't listed on the cart website which made me ponder on the fact that they may be more than 16 of these beauties around town. After talking to one of the owners, I discovered that this is indeed the case. Now I'm stressed. How am I going to find them all? How many are there? This might take a long time and a lot of help!

Anyway, today I tried 'Poke'm'. It's a sort of Asian snack bar with balls of meat, fish or tofu in a choice of sauce. I chose fish balls in a Vietnamese style sauce, with peanuts, cashews and a spicy, creamy sauce.
The fish balls were a little strange. Perhaps spongy is too strong a word, but they had a definite rubbery-ness to them. The chicken and beef also looked a little processed, but in fairness, I can't comment until I try them. The sauce was OK, perhaps slightly generic, i.e. from a bottle, but the nuts added a nice, crunchy element and the green onion worked nicely. I wouldn't say it was particularly Vietnamese in my eyes, but I am no expert and don't pretend to be. I would definitely go again and try something different, the owner commented to me that they have just started trading, so I wish them well.
