Jamon Iberico is a particularly expensive and sought after item, many claiming it is the best ham in the world. It is almost impossible to find a whole leg in North America without paying exorbitant prices or facing ridiculous taxes. Therefore, I was flabbergasted to see this advert for a whole leg in a flyer pushed through my parent's door. As you can see, while purchasing your cleaning products at Lidl, (a discount German supermarket), you can pick one up to take home for 59 pound, (that's about $100 Canadian at the moment). Neil and I toyed with the idea of stuffing one into our suitcase, but didn't quite have the guts after many stories about Italian mothers sneaking salamis and cheeses into their son's and daughter's luggage, well meaning, of course, but not so good for the people having to pay fines and relinquishing the goodies to hungry, smiling custom officers.
