BBQ begins

Apparently, as a new parent, I will furthermore only stay in touch with my pre-baby and childless friends through email and telephone conversations. This is because they do not understand my new language: the language of parenthood. But, I should remember to have that large reunion once a year to touch base.

What drivel.

Why do magazines do this to us? I have more contact now with some of my 'childless' friends than ever before, including Karl and Juenessa who regularly come round for dinner or drinks or a bi-weekly night out that I so desperately need. They don't seem to have any problem understanding us, then again, Neil and I don't spend all our time conversing in 'parent language' either. Really, who does?

What you see in the picture above is the beginnings of our roof deck. It's taking shape nicely, complete with new toy; a large natural gas BBQ, which we tested out with a few recipes a couple of weeks ago. We made Balinese pork, featured on the blog before, here, although this time I used a whole boneless butt on the rotisserie, the meat perfumed with the heady scent of the spice mixture, marinated Iranian lamb kebabs with golden saffron and orange peel flecked yogurt and hassleback potatoes flavoured with bay leaves.

The Barbecue. Locally made and hooked up to the natural gas line installed on both the roof deck and balcony.

I've created links to the recipes, simply click on the images to go there.
