Mini pizza chefs



In a smallish restaurant in East Vancouver, there is a wonderful kids' pizza making night on Sunday and Monday evenings. Unsure of whether the chef sighs in relief or frustration as we say "they're only three", we watch as our preschoolers basically create their own masterpiece from scratch. Although they are assisted, they are involved in every aspect, rolling out the dough.....

...sprinkling over lots of cheese, (but of course)...


...and adding their chosen toppings. 


In this first foray, she had an impressive and ambitious choice of toppings. Pepperoni, fresh tomatoes, red onion, a little basil and even a few olives.


Unfortunately, the photo above shows what was probably her only taste of the whole thing, as after one nibble she proclaimed "I've had enough", and the whole yummy thing was shared between Neil and myself. The next time we visited she had precisely one topping: cheese. It doesn't really matter though, the actual process of making the pizza is so good for them (and so much fun), in so many ways.

That's the thing I am really bad at. You know, all those things related to bread, pancakes, etc. I'll buy it better.
